FFS bags and hoods for wood pellets, eco-pea coal, briquettes and charcoal. Some of the thinnest pellet bags on the European market (50 µm) with full resistance to sharp fractions and no change in line speed. The result we measure: less film per bag, less film per pallet, a pallet that reaches southern Europe undamaged.

What goes wrong in fuels

Pellets and charcoal have sharp fractions that puncture film during filling and in transit. The producer usually solves this with thickness (70-80 µm), and at millions of bags a year that is hundreds of tonnes of extra film. The second problem: export. Pallets travel to Italy and Spain, stand in the sun and are reloaded, so the hood is applied twice, which doubles the cost and lengthens the packing cycle. The third: the buying season is in Q2-Q3, and a supplier who fails to deliver in July costs more than the difference in price per kilogram.

What we measure instead of price per kg

Film cost per 15 kg bag, the cost of securing one pallet, the number of punctures per thousand bags, FFS line speed after the film change and the number of pallets damaged in export. We calculate downgauging together with puncture resistance and whether the structure is recyclable under PPWR.

Which NEX films

NEX-BAG FFS HQ 50 µm in a 5-layer structure with mLLDPE: the outer layers take over puncture resistance, the core loses mass. NEX-BAG FFS ST for standard applications (eco-pea coal, stones, garden soil). NEX-HOOD HQ 90 µm instead of two 120 µm hoods, with UV absorber and stabiliser for export. Flexo printing up to 10 colours with UV-resistant inks, including in-line printing on the bag production line. Mono-PE structures ready for PPWR.

Proof from implementations

  • 50 µm pellet bag instead of 80 µm: 37.5% less film per bag at the same FFS line speed, a bag that stays tight under sharp fractions.
  • Pellet producer for export: one 90 µm HQ hood instead of two 120 µm hoods, over 60% less film per pallet, an end to fading complaints from customers in Italy and Spain.

Who we are for, and who we are not

For pellet and fuel producers with an automated FFS line and a volume from 5 tonnes of film a year. We plan the season together: trials in spring, a framework contract, deliveries to the production schedule. For fuel depots hand-packing into ready-made bags, a distributor is the better address; we will point you to one.

Next step

Technical form: type of fuel, bag weight, FFS machine, current thickness, export destinations. We come back with a proposed structure and a trial roll; on implementation, the cost of the sample is offset against the first order.

A printed pellet bag? We print up to 10 colours on our own film, including in-line on the bag production line, with UV-resistant inks. See NEX PRINT: printed bags from the manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions

Does a 50 µm bag really withstand sharp pellet fractions?

Yes, in a 5-layer structure with mLLDPE, where the outer layers take over puncture resistance. Case: 50 µm instead of 80 µm at the same FFS line speed, a bag that stays tight under sharp fractions.

We double-hood pallets for export. Is there another way?

Usually yes. One NEX-HOOD HQ 90 µm hood with UV absorber and stabiliser replaced two 120 µm hoods at a pellet producer: over 60% less film per pallet and an end to fading complaints in southern Europe.

Will you keep up with deliveries in season?

We plan the season together: trials in spring, a framework contract, deliveries to your production schedule. Standard lead time is 10-21 working days from specification approval, OTIF approx. 98%.
