Paper and paper-like films

Yes – NEX-PAPER RP is a paper-based solution (glued sleeves, paper-converted packaging, among others, replacing film solutions in the textile and furniture industry). It enters the standard paper recycling stream, in accordance with local collection systems. This solution is inherently compliant with PPWR guidelines and consumer expectations for paper packaging.

NEX-PAPER SM is a PE film with a high mineral content (chalk) – it does not return to the paper stream, but to the plastics stream. Compared to the market standard, i.e., paper + aluminum + PE laminate used for butter, it is significantly easier to recycle: the absence of an aluminum layer simplifies the cycle, and post-industrial waste can be easily returned to standard mechanical recycling. The film is produced with bio-based raw materials.

Very good – NEX-PAPER SM has been proven for years in applications such as butter, butter blocks, cottage cheese, cheeses, and lard. The construction with a high chalk content and a PE layer effectively blocks fat migration, while maintaining the paper-like appearance of the packaging.

Yes – flexo CI up to 10 colors in integration with NEX PRINT. The print is designed considering the matte, paper-like surface of the film, which gives a premium effect characteristic of kraft packaging.

The market standard is 55 µm – this thickness ensures stable product cubing (e.g., butter blocks) and full machine compatibility on client packaging lines. Technologically, we can go lower, but below 55 µm, cubing becomes difficult – the film loses competitiveness against classic paper+aluminum laminate in this regard. The thickness selection is determined for each specific client application.

The market standard for butter packaging is a paper + aluminum + PE laminate – a multi-material construction, difficult to recycle. NEX-PAPER SM eliminates the aluminum layer, is produced with bio-based raw materials, and can be easily returned to mechanical recycling (post-industrial waste). It offers a paper-like look & feel, fat resistance proven in butter and cottage cheese, and a significantly better ESG/PPWR profile – while maintaining barrier functionality.
